As a man in his 60s that’s hard. I am happily married to Kim for nearly 32 years, the father of 2, I take care of my dad, my faithful dog Wilson greets me every evening as I come home, and I love being a home inspector.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My wife Kim and I have been married for nearly 32 years. Our daughter Alex is 29, and my son Casey is 27. My father, Bud is living with me. Both my sister, Jennifer Barstow, and my brother John, still reside in Harford County as a well.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
As a Home inspector, I get to meet new folks every day. But the best part is teaching them about their home and hopefully make the stressful process of purchasing a house a bit easier.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Naughty Dogs & Black Forest

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Since 1970.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Everyone is interesting just not all are memorable.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
The Princess Bride & the series Lost.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Don’t give up, there is ALWAYS someone that has a more difficult situation than yourself.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
The Hub men’s store on Main Street.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Steven Hunter, a phenomenal local author at my brother’s restaurant Naughty Dogs where we would talk about that book I’ll write someday.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
No matter where you go, if you aren’t already acquainted, there is only a degree or two of separation between personal connections. If I haven’t met you, then my mom decorated your mom’s house, or you played golf with dad, or you went to school with my sister or you knew Kim’s brother……kid of like 2 degrees to Kevin Bacon.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Still here in Harford County, raking leaves in the fall, and going to work everyday.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Since nearly everyone knows I have a prosthetic, what they don’t know is …[it’s a secret, but someday soon I want to start doing voiceover/audiobooks].

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A charcoal cooked cheeseburger with fresh summer tomatoes on Martin’s potato bun with local sweet corn on July Saturday evening.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My dad.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Old, solid, smile.

HOME
