Hi! I’m Wendy Wright. If one can still be called an Army Brat at the age of 57, then I’m that. I moved to Harford County/Edgewood Arsenal in 1983 with my parents.
I exercised race horses, attended HCC, worked at The Bel Air Athletic Club, and currently own my micro-biz The Wright Fit, all in Harford County.
This community has been good to me and I hope I’ve been a good steward in return. I love calling this place home.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’ve been married to my own Mr. Wright for 25 years. My wonderful husband Will retired from the Maryland Air National Guard as a CMSGT after 35 years of service, but I made him get another job so he’d stay out from under my feet. My Mom, Brother and SIL live in FL, and my Sis and her family are in VA and CA. My FIL lives in DE. I’m extremely grateful for my family.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
The Wright Fit helps women find a flattering, authentic, and EVERYDAY style through wardrobe and simple makeup. We offer In-Person Personal Shopping and Closet Edits in the Bel Air area. We also offer a Makeup Refresher via Zoom. More about my business can be found at thewrightfit.net. What do I love the most about what I do? That light bulb that goes off when a client sees how amazing she can look and feel with a few simple wardrobe and makeup tweaks.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Vagabond, The Local, Hickory Station Pizzeria, 5 Guys and Manor Tavern
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Since 1983.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
My husband Will because he has lots of interests and accomplishes anything he sets his mind to. And Roger Ralph, former owner of The Bel Air Athletic Club. Roger had such a vision and carried it out with class.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Movies I can’t look away from: The Hunt For Red October, Spy, The Right Stuff, Seabiscuit and Miracle. TV shows: Seinfeld, Bad Sisters, For All Mankind, Homeland.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Listen to your gut. It’s trying to tell you something.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Edgewood Arsensal and APG. They make me think of my Dad and growing up as an army family. I loved my time on the Arsenal.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Carrie Mathison of Homeland. I know, she’s fictional, but I love and admire her character. We’d be casual and head over to Manor Tavern for a delicious Manor Burger.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Every Memorial Day, The Town of Bel Air has a wonderful Memorial Day Ceremony at Shamrock Park. It’s extremely patriotic and well done. It’s a gem that I don’t think a lot of people know about.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Doing what I’m doing now with a bit more travel sprinkled in.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I secretly dream of being Carrie Mathison.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Keyes Creamery Chocolate-Almond-Coconut mixed with their Chocolate-Peanut Butter ice cream.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My immediate family and my dearest friends. For example: once a week, my 85 year old Mom and her best friend of the same age, deliver Meals-On-Meals to about 13 people. Now that’s what I call inspiring.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
The Right Fit.
